obsolete technology-lest we forget
on the way to the laundromat/subway this morning, walking through the first major snowfall of the season (it’s been going steady now for over 24 hours), i spoke with my mellow about the changing of the times:
me: “i had a dot matrix printer until i graduated high school.”
mellow: “i took my dot matrix printer to university.”
me: “yeah, but what was the internet then?”
mellow: “you could get on line and there were a few bulletin boards and stuff, but people weren’t taking it seriously”
me: “certainly not as credible-those were times when people would laugh at the credibility of the internet”
mellow: “i remember using the card catalogue at the library”
me: “and now people, (and the CBC) quote wikipedia (and facebook) on the regular as a source”
but the new common album is serious though (even if it’s only 38 minutes long, ADD much?)
me: “it’s the REAL electric circus-stand up”
mellow: “this is some bambaataa shit, it’s funny how people are recycling the same beats after 25 years”
